Let’s do something about online payments in Sri Lanka.

The difficulties in accepting online payments have hindered Sri Lankan entrepreneurs for many years. Our freelancers and small businesses are at a significant disadvantage when competing with their peers from other parts of the world where payment infrastructures are better, faster and more inclusive.

We know the struggle very well, and have written about it extensively. The only way we could fix it for Vesess was by setting up shop in the US, almost 10 years ago. Unfortunately this was not an option for most Sri Lankan entrepreneurs back then, and as we all know, little has changed in the past decade.

We have been trying to come up with a solution for this problem for several years. We have talked to legislators, bankers and industry leaders. Just like how all the rumours about PayPal coming to Sri Lanka have failed to materialize, our discussions have not been very fruitful so far.

Hiveage should change that. Our online invoicing and billing platform serves customers from more than 140 countries. Only a handful of them are from Sri Lanka, probably because the only gateway we support for the country is 2CheckOut.

Our plan is to add integrated payments directly within Hiveage: simply by signing up for a Hiveage account, Sri Lankans will be able to invoice their clients and get paid online seamlessly. No need for ridiculous signup and maintenance fees—you will only have the Hiveage subscription to pay.

We are calling for expressions of interest from Sri Lankan small businesses and freelancers: if you would like to be a part of this venture, please fill our sign up form below. The more people we have with us, the easier it would be to make this happen.
