Vgo
Discontinuing Vgo,
Our Taxi Dispatch System
Vesess has discontinued Vgo, the online taxi dispatch system. However, the software platform we developed will continue under a new brand.
Vgo Shutdown and Next Steps
Effective August 15, 2016, Vesess has discontinued Vgo, the online taxi dispatch system we started along with the JIT Group and two other entrepreneurs. The taxi operations in Sri Lanka, managed by us using the dispatch platform, have also ended. However, the software platform we developed will continue under a new brand.
When we started work on Vgo, we did not have plans to operate on-demand taxi services by ourselves in Sri Lanka. However, as the development of the platform progressed and we were joined by co-founders who had industry experience, it became apparent that there was a market need we could address with our system.
We launched Vgo the taxi dispatch system concurrently with a taxi service in Colombo by the same name: it allowed us to quickly improve the platform to meet real world requirements. We were the first service to accept both cash and automatic credit card payments in Sri Lanka.
However, as most startups often do, we ran into a few stumbling blocks on the way, as the Vgo co-founding team’s vision diverged on certain strategic decisions. At the end, these differences in opinion proved to be too big to continue together as a team.
The Vgo co-founders decided to part ways amicably. Copyrights to the entire software system remains with Vesess.
