As one of Sri Lanka’s largest technology providers, Dialog’s website was one part of its business operations that did not match its wide coverage in other fields. Choosing Vesess to help them develop a stronger web presence, Dialog asked the company to help them spread their dominance to the online sphere.
Analysing the strengths of Dialog, Vesess set about to develop a website that would focus on what the company was really made of – simple approachability backed by stable, powerful and cutting edge technology.
With a strong focus on the separation of content and structure, and of course, adherence to international accessibility standards such Section 508 of the US and DDA – UK, Vesess worked on a completely new frontend to the company’s corporate website. Based on users getting where they wanted in the least number of clicks, this revamp worked on simplifying their web presence, and thereby making it more accessible to their many customers.
On the technical side, Vesess also worked on the pages themselves, making them leaner, and thereby reducing load times for the end user. Since close to 90% of the site’s visitors are from Sri Lanka, and therefore accessing the site via slower connections, it was a priority to cut down on the load times, and this is exactly what the new design did. Adherence to Web Standards during the development process naturally helped a lot in making pages load quicker, and this new lean redesign of Dialog.lk stands in stark contrast to its flash heavy predecessors. It is believed that this in turn will also lower bounce rates, and that coupled with the improved user interface, will help users to find the information they require quickly, and easily.
Lastly, in a web design landscape that is so heavily browser reliant, Vesess made sure that Dialog’s new web portal would be completely accessible in all major browsers, making the company one of the few of its size in the island to be fully functional in all browsers and therefore available to all Internet users, regardless of operating system or web browser version. As a mobile provider, it was also important that their portal be accessible to mobile devices, and thanks to the Web Standards compliant approach taken by Vesess, this proved to be very simple.
