Yourville
A site that focuses on helping people make local connections in Costa Rica, Yourville aims to bring the Central American country closer together. From reviewing local businesses together, to meeting people and organising events, Yourville aims to be the number one online gathering place for both Costa Ricans and expatriates living there.
Built on the FOSS Content Management System platform Drupal, Yourville was developed from the ground up to be a community site, and social networking was a strong focus of the project. With features such as forums, dynamic content prioritization via meta-moderation, and private messaging, the portal was made for communication, and Vesess made sure that these needs were assigned a top priority during development.
With a strong emphasis on peer review and moderation, Yourville.com was always developed to be a site where content would be shaped by popular opinion. From area based moderators to site administrators and users, the direction of the site is decided by a number of parties. While administrators and moderators were designed to be able to moderate content at a higher level, users too were given the opportunity to rate and review data, meaning any piece of content at Yourville goes through several levels of moderation. Therefore, while Yourville aims to foster lot of content, these peer review and meta-moderation techniques also ensure that the data that is produced on site will be of the highest quality.
Thus, though owned and operated by Yourville LLC, Yourville.com is largely the sum of its users. With established community guidelines and best practices, it is above all a site where people meet, and Vesess is proud to have been involved in creating yet another community. Ultimately, the web is about people and we’re glad that we got to work with a company that values them so highly.
